James Powell, Managing Partner
LONGWOOD, Fla. (November 8, 2023) – Insurance Office of America (IOA) is pleased to announce the appointment of James Powell, CIC, to the position of managing partner. In his new role, James deepens his leadership with the Ocala branch, part of IOA’s North Florida region.
“Since joining IOA together 17 years ago, James has been a great partner and friend and an outstanding advocate for his clients. Serving recently as Ocala branch manager, I’ve watched him develop strong personal relationships with his clients, fellow IOA partners, and our strategic carriers,” said Regional President Heyward Burnet. “James’ contribution to IOA as a managing partner will be his ability to work with our partner carriers and producers to ensure that our clients get the most out of what is being offered in the marketplace. I have no doubt that he will flourish in this new leadership role.”
James began his insurance career in 1996 under the mentorship of his uncle, Mike Powell, who owned a successful multiline agency in Ocala, Florida. In 2006, James made the decision to partner with IOA and help bring the brokerage into the Ocala market. Since then, the Ocala branch has had steady, sustainable growth and continues to increase its market share in the North Florida region.

James earned an Associate of Science degree in business management from the College of Central Florida, and he holds the certified insurance counselor (CIC) designation from The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.
