Charles Boornazian
Vice President of Risk AlternativesCharles is responsible for the evaluation, development, marketing and negotiating of Risk Financing programs for loss sensitive (Captives, Retrospective Rating, WC Deductible and Third Party Deductible/SIR Plans) clients. He has in-depth knowledge of Alternative Markets and Alternative Funding programs. Related duties include loss forecasting, collateral administration, drafting agreements for sold programs, structuring collateral alternatives (with various instruments), procuring and ceding reinsurance alternatives, review of financial statements and overall account management. He was a National Accounts Underwriting Executive during most of his career.
In 2008, Charles earned the Associate in Captive Insurance Designation (ACI) where he has successfully completed ten of ten parts. His active client base includes twelve customers that utilize different types of captives for various reasons.
Originally from West Hartford, Connecticut, Charles began his Insurance career in 1986 with the Covenant Mutual Insurance Company. He is a graduate of the University of Hartford’s Insurance and Risk Management Program (May, 1987). Offices that Charles held while attending U of H include President of the Insurance Society, Vice President of the Business School’s Student Lobby and Vice President of Theta Chi Fraternity (Zeta Upsilon Chapter). In 1987, the U of H Insurance Department named Charles as the Scott McAllister Award winner for being an outstanding Insurance and Risk Management student.
Charles and his wife Jackie have been married for more than 20 years, and have three children. His hobbies include parenting, reading, golf, NCAA athletics and personal fitness.
