Jeffrey McConnell

After graduating from the University of Georgia with a business degree in management information systems, Jeff worked as a software systems analyst for two years before beginning his insurance career in 1987. He immediately began the coursework necessary for the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP) designations, being part of only 15 percent of all participants who passed all examinations on their first try.

Prior to joining IOA in 2012, Jeff was the managing partner and co-owner of The Leavitt Group of Atlanta. LGA was a multiyear winner of the Agency Excellence Award, presented to the top agencies nationwide of The Leavitt Group for profitability, growth and operational proficiency. Jeff was also a recipient of the Circle of Excellence Award for business production.

Risk avoidance is central to Jeff’s approach. Some of his accomplishments encompass:

• – Development of a proprietary workers compensation risk management program.
• – Contributor to the Georgia Employment Law Letter.
• – Conducted numerous risk management seminars and workshops on various human resource topics including FMLA, FLSA, ADA and employment handbooks as well as workers compensation and fleet safety.
• – Successful revisions to numerous client contracts and agreements reducing their contractual exposure and liabilities.
