John C. Averill
Vice PresidentJohn Averill is a vice president and senior broker with IOA in the Aerospace Division. The IOA Aerospace Division concentrates on a wide variety of aviation exposures including aircraft (fixed and rotor wing), products liability, commercial operators, events coverage and non owned aircraft liability. He works with clients that span all industry sectors including corporate and private aircraft owners, commercial aviation, U.S. Government contractors, municipalities and financial institutions.
John has successfully represented many high profile domestic and international corporate aviation clients, defense contractors and commercial aviation clients to the aviation insurance market place. His experience includes insurance transactions and risk consulting as it relates to aircraft purchases, sales, contractual issues, claims advocacy, policy interpretation, coverage analysis, risk management surveys, coverage design and emergency response and contingency planning. He has also developed aviation related insurance programs to address the higher risk needs of corporate and commercial clients. He has written several articles on various industry issues and publishes a newsletter for his clients on industry trends. John has also spoken on aviation risk management and insurance issues for the NBAA and the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS). John is the Vice Chairman of the NBAA Insurance Committee.
The Aerospace Division of IOA currently has over 100 clients comprised of corporations, fixed and rotor wing commercial aviation operations and various types of maintenance facilities. A number of these clients are based outside of the United States.
He has over 25 years experience in the insurance community as a broker and underwriter and is an alumnus of American International Group, Travelers / Gulf Insurance Group and Aon Corporation.
John transacts business with all major insurance markets including underwriters with Lloyd’s of London. He is an FAA-licensed private pilot. He is married and has two daughters.
