Insurance Office of America (IOA) Raises Hurricane Relief Support for Puerto Rico

unitedforpuertorico logoLONGWOOD, Fla. (October 16, 2017) – Hurricanes Irma and Maria recently ravaged the island of Puerto Rico leaving in their wake extreme damage to property and a power grid that some say will take many months to fully restore. To bring much-needed relief, Insurance Office of America (IOA) has donated $50,000 in support of United for Puerto Rico, a nonprofit set up to benefit the residents of Puerto Rico impacted by natural disasters, and is encouraging its employees across the country to do the same.

“These storms dealt Puerto Rico a powerful blow, and its people are in need of our help on a grand scale,” said IOA Chairman and co-founder John Ritenour. “We’ve begun raising funds and encourage other to join us in support of helping the people of Puerto Rico to recover as soon as possible. We hope the community will join us.”

Brought about by the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló, United for Puerto Rico was formed in collaboration with the private sector. Its purpose is to help the victims affected by natural disasters. A full 100% of the proceeds will go to provide support for those in need.

Puerto Rico has very strong ties to the communities that IOA serves. Its headquarters is located just north of Orlando where nearly a third of the 1 million Puerto Ricans living in the state of Florida reside, according to recent U.S. Census data.

Insurance Office of America (IOA) is a full-service insurance agency founded in 1988 and is one of the fastest-growing independent agencies in the United States.
