The Greater Orlando Heart Walk is one of Central Florida’s largest charity walks each year. Dedicated to combating heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases, the American Heart Association has the goal of improving heart health by 20% by 2020; a goal that is easier said than done. Through improving patient care, advocating for better health, raising awareness, and much more, the American Heart Association fights to fulfill their mission of building healthier lives.
Their goal is to receive $1,500,000 in donations to support the cause, as well as the participants involved in the walk. For as little as $100 and as much as $10,000, prizes will be distributed through the American Heart Association’s website depending on the bracket your donation falls in. The 5k, with a 1-mile survivor route, is at UCF on September 12 at 7 am with another walk at Kissimmee Lakefront Park on September 26 beginning at 8 am. The event is free, with walkers being eligible for a Heart Walk t-shirt once they have accumulated $100 in donations.
