Year after year, hundreds of professional athletes compete from around the globe in the Symetra Tour for only ten LPGA cards and a $100,000 purse. Traveling around the country week after week, the ladies of the Symetra Tour stay with nearby residents to avoid the high costs of hospitality in every stop they make. Throughout their time in Central Florida, residents in Alaqua and the surrounding area have elected to take the golfers into their homes for the 2015 IOA Golf Classic. It is truly a one of a kind experience to have a professional athlete stay with you. Host families have the opportunity to watch and walk along with their players as they take on the 54-hole course, designed by Gary Player, at Alaqua Country Club.
Past winners of the IOA Golf Classic, Kendall Dye and Katy Harris, have gone on to fulfill success golf careers in the LPGA. However, this is not an easy feat. Alaqua Country Club is the final stop on the Symetra Tour; and shortly thereafter, the ladies will find out if they’ve earned one of the ten coveted LPGA cards. The competition is at the highest level throughout the entire tour, but it is easy to see how badly these players want it in the final round.
