Michael J. Caffrey joined Insurance Office of America (IOA) in August 2003 and currently serves as regional president in Georgia. Michael served as managing partner for IOA’s Atlanta office from 2006 to 2013, earning Branch of the Year three times and Partner of the Year twice. He has served on the IOA advisory board and was appointed Regional Managing Partner for the Georgia region.

Michael began his insurance career very early on, working as an intern for a local insurance agency in both high school and college. He then went on to work in England as a broker for Lloyds of London, where he specialized in bankers blanket bonds for the struggling North American savings and loan industry. He later joined a national insurance brokerage and launched an international division to access overseas insurance markets. Capitalizing on his previous London experience, he arranged and operated an exclusive Lloyds of London line slip for long haul trucking physical damage.

Prior to joining IOA, Michael held numerous positions for the same national insurance broker, generating over $30M in insurance premiums. His prime focus is property and casualty insurance and risk management services for property owners, developers, and managers of hotels, shopping centers, malls, office buildings, golf courses, restaurants, and long-term care facilities. He has placed insurance coverage for over 50,000 hotel rooms for all major brands as well as developed and operated the franchisee insurance programs for Hilton, Hampton Inn, Doubletree, Guest Quarters, Red Lion, Embassy Suites, and Homewood Suites brands. He carries expertise in California earthquake and coastal windstorm coverages.

Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in risk management from Georgia State University. He holds a certificate of general insurance and the chartered property casualty underwriter (CPCU) designation.
