About Charles
Charles “Charlie” Boornazian joined Insurance Office of America (IOA) in March 2004 as a commercial insurance agent. Charlie is responsible for the evaluation, development, marketing, and negotiating of risk financing programs for loss-sensitive clients (e.g., captives, retrospective rating, workers compensation deductible, and third-party deductible/SIR plans).
Charles has nearly four decades of insurance experience, including as a national accounts underwriting executive during most of his career. He has in-depth knowledge of alternative markets and alternative funding programs. Related duties include loss forecasting, collateral administration, drafting agreements for sold programs, structuring collateral alternatives (with various instruments), procuring and ceding reinsurance alternatives, reviewing financial statements, and overall account management. His clients include twelve customers that utilize different types of captives for various reasons.
Charles earned his bachelor’s degree in insurance and risk management from the University of Hartford. He holds the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation. He was named as the Scott McAllister Award winner at the University of Hartford for being an outstanding insurance and risk management student.
